Arlie Hochschild is the author of "The Second Shift," "The Managed Heart," "The Time Bind," "The Commercialization of Intimate Life, and with Barbara Ehrenreich recently co-edited "Global Woman: Nannies, maids and sex workers in the new economy." She teaches sociology at U.C. Berkeley.
